§05 STRATEGY

Brand Messaging & Positioning

For the business whose website, deck, and sales team all describe it differently.

One messaging framework and voice guide that every future asset — and every future writer — gets built from, so the drift stops. Not a brand book nobody opens again.

Who this is for

  • Every asset your business puts out sounds like it was written by a different person, because it was.
  • You’re mid-rebrand, pre-raise, or post-pivot and the old one-liner doesn’t fit anymore.
  • You want a reference document a new hire or a future freelancer can actually be handed, instead of "just match our vibe."

What's included

  • A structured discovery pass: audience, competitors, what you actually do differently, and why it matters
  • A written positioning statement and messaging pillars — the argument, not just adjectives
  • A voice guide: specific words to use, words to avoid, and worked examples
  • One structural edit pass, tested against your existing homepage and sales deck for consistency
  • Defined revision rounds (1 / 2 / 3 by tier)
  • Full ownership of the framework on final payment — reuse it anywhere, with anyone

How this one runs

01

Discovery

We ask what you actually do differently and why it matters, then check that answer against how your last three competitors describe themselves.

02

Draft

We draft the positioning statement, pillars, and voice guide as one document, not a slide deck of vague adjectives.

03

Edit

We test the framework against a real asset — usually your homepage or a sales one-pager — to make sure it’s usable, not just quotable.

04

Delivery

You get the finished framework, your revision rounds to sharpen it, and full ownership to hand to anyone who writes for you next.

A 40-person dental group in northwest Ohio

The same 40-person dental group we wrote a new homepage for had a deeper problem underneath it: the front desk described the practice one way, the website said something else, and a rebrand two years earlier had never actually changed how anyone talked about it day to day. We built a one-page messaging framework — who they serve, what makes them different, the specific phrases to use and avoid — before writing a word of the new site. Months after launch, it’s still what every new page gets written from; nobody on staff has had to guess what the practice is supposed to sound like.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as a full brand identity (logo, colors, etc.)?

No — we write the words: positioning, pillars, voice, and the phrases that back them up. Visual identity is a design engagement, not a copywriting one; we’re glad to work alongside whoever’s doing that.

Who should be in the room for the discovery pass?

Whoever actually talks to customers and whoever signs off on messaging — usually the owner or a marketing lead, plus a salesperson if one exists. More voices in discovery means less disagreement about the framework afterward.

What do we actually get, physically?

A single written document: positioning statement, messaging pillars with the reasoning behind each, and a voice guide with real examples of on-brand and off-brand phrasing. No slide deck, no mood board.

Will you rewrite our whole website as part of this?

The Authority tier applies the framework to 5 of your existing assets directly. A full website rewrite is its own service and pairs naturally with this one — many clients buy both.

How long does the framework stay useful before it needs updating?

There’s no expiration built in — it’s meant to hold until your business genuinely changes (a pivot, a merger, a new market). Most clients revisit it every couple of years, not every quarter.
