The CopywriterLabs studio workspace

A small studio that writes like a bigger one thinks.

CopywriterLabs is a productised copywriting studio based in Lima, Ohio — fixed-scope packages, a real editing pass, and a writer you actually talk to.

Copy fails because it's a first draft wearing a final draft's confidence.

Here's what we believe, and it's specific enough that we could be wrong about it: copy doesn't fail because it's badly written. It fails because it's a first draft wearing a final draft's confidence.

The version of a sentence that gets written first is almost always the version that describes what a business wants to say about itself — every capability, every point of pride, every feature, in the order they occurred to whoever wrote it. That draft isn't dishonest. It's just unedited.

The version that actually converts is the one that's been cut back to only what the reader needs, in the order they need it, with everything that doesn't earn its place removed. That's not a talent difference between a good writer and a great one. It's a structural difference in the process — whether an edit happened at all, and whether it was a real structural pass or a pass with a spellchecker.

That's why every package we sell includes a defined number of revision rounds instead of two extremes we think are both dishonest: "unlimited revisions," which promises something no agency can actually deliver without either padding the price or slow-walking your requests forever, and no revisions at all, which is a first draft with no editing pass, dressed up as a finished product.

We built the whole business around the edit being a real, scheduled, paid-for part of the work — not a favor, not an afterthought, and not a marketing line. The revision rounds on our pricing page aren't a limitation we're apologizing for. They're the part of the process that actually does the work.

Founder & Lead Writer

I started this studio because most of the copywriting work I saw — including plenty of my own early work — treated the first draft as the deliverable. I don't think that's what a business is actually paying for. What I've built here is a process where the edit is scheduled, budgeted, and included by default: you get a real first draft, then a real structural pass against it, then your revision rounds to get it exactly right. That's the whole method. It scales to eight services and three tiers because the method doesn't change — only the scope does.

Every project has one writer. That's who you talk to.

Every engagement is assigned one writer at kickoff. That's who drafts your copy, and that's who you email when you have notes — not an account manager relaying messages to someone else. A second person edits every draft before it reaches you; that's the structural edit pass the whole business is built around, not a courtesy read-through. You always know exactly who's writing your project and exactly what happens to it before you see it.

How we operate

  • US-based, Lima, Ohio — a real studio, not a platform.
  • You work with the writer, never a routing desk.
  • Fixed scope, fixed price, quoted before we start.
  • Revision rounds included in every package — never "unlimited," always defined.
  • Full IP transfer on final payment. What you pay for is yours.
  • NDA on request, before we see a word about your business.

A real, locatable small business.
